Helping California meet its energy needs
Gill Ranch Storage Field is an underground storage site designed to hold 20 billion cubic feet (Bcf); capacity is split between the field’s owners: 75% Gill Ranch Storage, LLC and 25% Pacific Gas and Electric Company.
Safety and environmental protection are the highest priorities for the operators of Gill Ranch Storage. They applied the highest standards for construction and operating procedures from the earliest planning stages through today’s daily activities.
Gill Ranch Storage was built to meet the highest safety standards. The site uses depleted natural gas reservoirs, which are safe and do not affect adjacent land uses. Unlike other fuel sources, natural gas does not contaminate soil or water.
Local economic benefits
Gill Ranch Storage estimates its annual operating budget for local payroll and services is more than $4 million. Madera and Fresno counties will benefit from property taxes generated by the facility. Gill Ranch Storage is also committed to supporting local communities through volunteerism and philanthropic contributions.
